Holding space for women through every stage of life.

About Me

For over three decades, I’ve been holding space for women through the many cycles of life — pregnancy, birth, motherhood, and menopause. My work began at the Active Birth Centre, where I was co-director alongside Janet Balaskas, and has grown into a lifelong practice of supporting women and families with compassion and care.

My yoga approach is Scaravelli-inspired: gentle, fluid, and rooted in the belief that less effort brings more ease. I support women in reconnecting with their bodies and nervous systems, offering space to breathe, soften, and discover new ways of being.

Whether in yoga, parenting, or life transitions, my invitation is: to keep it simple, and discover how less, truly can be more,

three decades of holding space for women.

I developed my approach under the umbrella of the Active Birth Centre, which I co-directed for many years alongside my friend, colleague and mentor Janet Balaskas. There, I supported parents-to-be as they prepared for birth and parenthood in a beautiful space within our community, that, sadly, closed in June 2020 due to Covid.

My yoga approach is Scaravelli-inspired, grounded in the idea that less (effort) brings more (ease), and that our bodies are always learning and evolving. Yoga offers us a space to come back to ourselves, to breathe, and to feel. Much of my work focuses on supporting women’s nervous systems, which are so often stretched beyond their limits by modern life.

A woman’s body often craves a gentler, more playfully nurturing approach — something more fluid, rounded, and compassionate. This is especially true during pregnancy, motherhood, and menopause, as we move through our cyclical nature. These transitions provide a rich terrain for discovering new ways of relating to our bodies, ourselves.

I believe this same approach also applies to parenting our babies. Babies are extraordinary teachers. When we watch them with curiosity, they show us how to respond with more attunement. Every baby I have met has been wonderfully unique; there is never one way that suits them all. My role for mothers is to support you on your journey with the principles of keep it simple and less is more. Together, we honour both the joyful highs and the more challenging lows that matrescence can bring, remembering always: you are good enough, just as you are.

My support continues as you move through the wider cycles of life. We are ever-evolving beings, especially during matrescence and the menopausal journey. My Mentoring for M(others) offers women a safe, held space to be truly seen and heard. From this supported place, you can begin to process challenges, embrace change, and discover new ways forward — rooted in the knowing that you are always becoming.

MY STORY

Alongside art, yoga was my other love from the age of twenty one. I went on to discover active birth yoga classes when I was pregnant with my son. After the birth of my second child, I began to move away from art, towards yoga, and trained as an Active Birth Yoga Teacher in 1995-97. Other trainings followed, alongside the exploration of movement in many forms within my yoga practice. I attend workshops & trainings with a number of wonderful teachers to keep me nourished.

trainings for women who support women

I have a real love for training other practitioners to become experts in their field, this led me to develop Womb to World and Mother Love, my two Postpartum trainings, which focus on the all important (but often overlooked) ‘fourth trimester’. Having spent decades working with new mums and their babies, I wanted to draw on this experience and knowledge and help fill a gap in our society’s support of new mothers and better honour the transformational journey that matrescence is.

More recently I have added my Pelvic Love CPD Sessions. Assisting me on many of my CPD/Trainings is my truly wonderful friend and colleague Yolande Diver. If you would like me to bring one of my CPD days or trainings to you do get in touch.
