Mother Nurture Training Days will provide valuable skills and insights to anyone wanting to, or already working in the field of supporting women in their journey through pregnancy & birth, into motherhood.

A wonderful way to extend and develop your work in helping new families build strong bonds with their baby right from the start. Information is important for parents helping them to make good parenting choices from an empowered place. This online training will help you fill a gap that’s so often felt in the support of new mothers and in turn their families.

This training is held by myself, Lynn Murphy. I’m delighted to share with you my passion and knowledge from over 30 years experience within the birthworld.

Join the waitlist for my next in-person training (it’s been a while). Look forward to hearing from you.

nurture in practice

If you work with families in the perinatal period, whether as a yoga teacher, doula, antenatal teacher, midwife or massage therapist, this training will inform and enrich your work with expecting parents & new mothers, in both one-to-one and group settings.

You will develop a range of abilities to support the new mother & baby bonding process; these practical and deceptively simple techniques includes baby massage, and are designed to support more relaxed parenting, that in turn helps both mothers and babies to thrive.

A key focus will be the new mother's wellbeing, looking at all aspects of the transition into motherhood - Matrescence – the process of becoming a mother and the ongoing journey. We will explore the many aspects of this transition – from the emotional impact, through to the recovery of the core muscles after birth, weaving these threads together into a strong structure of support.

what will the training include?

The learning sessions are usually spread across 4 days. Plus 2 x 2 hour meet ups online, Pre & Post course giving us dedicated space to initially meet up as a group and then for a proper goodbye alongside planning for what comes next. I am at present working with a colleague on the layout of these training days, so there may be changes to the above.

For those of you who join the waitlist, you will be the first to hear about the dates, costs & layout of this, my first in-person training for a while. I’m excited to share all details with you later this summer.

During our time together we will focus on these core elements and more;

  • How to support the mother’s physical as well as emotional recovery in the early postpartum.

  • Understanding the impact of birth trauma in the postpartum & signposting,

  • Rehabilitation of the pelvic diaphragm in connection to the rest of the pelvic area and its effect on self esteem.

  • An embodied approach to mindful movement & the breath to nurture & reconnect the new mother to her postpartum body.

  • Acknowledging a woman’s change of identity on becoming a mother.

  • Incorporating babies into classes & how to deal with issues that can arise within them.

Throughout the sessions we will have space to talk through how you can interweave these many elements into your work to best support the wellbeing of the mum’s and babies you meet face to face and/or online. You will be encouraged to use journaling as a tool from signing up through to the final day of training, to observe your insights and realisations along the way.

Coming together as a group, with often varied backgrounds & experiences, enriches the learning experience and you will be invited to join the Mother Nurture Community on completion of the course, a place for support & continued guidance from myself, through monthly supervisions and seasonal gatherings. I am aiming for this to start in 2025.

“It was such a true privilege to finally have this incredible opportunity to train with Lynn. She is an exceptionally gifted facilitator whose freedom of spirit, creativity and exquisite use of language, allowed for a unique exploration of motherhood throughout this training. Her vast experience of working with new mothers has furnished her with a profound understanding of their needs and many challenges, as they navigate their way through the greatest transformation of their lives. Over the weeks, Lynn quietly nurtured all participants on the course, in total alignment with their individual needs and personalities. At every opportunity she encouraged the freedom to explore, tapping in at all times to the use of our most accessible resources, those of our senses. As we meandered our way together through the important material covered, we added layer upon layer to the invaluable toolkit we created. The content of the course & support material, so beautifully produced, has been exceptionally helpful in the development of our work as birth workers. An ABSOLUTE MUST for all Birth Workers & Supporters of Women

“Lynn’s course has been a wonderful chance to deepen my understanding and reflect on my work supporting new families and their babies. Over the three days we were encouraged to really explore how we can support in a holistic sense – physically, emotionally and through the information we share. It really allowed me to connect up lots of different areas I had previously had an interest in: touch, breath work, body work and always listening, there were lots of aha moments and it has really enriched my practice as a postnatal doula, a sling consultant and as someone running a postnatal group. Lynn’s wisdom and compassion is so inspiring and the course is delivered in such an open hearted and generous atmosphere. I have really loved learning with her and would highly recommend the course to anyone who is or is thinking of working with new families. Thank you Lynn.”

— YOLANDE DIVER, YOGA TEACHER & DOULA

“Hi Lynn, thank you for two enriching days, I so appreciated your way of teaching and how you see and share things. I love working with women in general and I’m more and more convinced about the benefit of supporting women in the postpartum. I felt pretty blessed for being there and have now the opportunity to share something so precious with other women. Thank you””

— DIANA, YOGA TEACHER - BRUSSELS

“Thank you Lynn for a deeply nourishing and inspiring few days spent garnering your immense wisdom and knowledge on the mother nurture training. It was a deep and humbling journey into the perspective of a new parent, but also the baby as they transition from womb to world. This course serves for a deeper understanding into how to hold space with empathy and compassion whilst offering practical ways to assist new parents find their way, gain confidence and honour their role as a parent. I would highly recommend this training if you already teach postnatal yoga as a way of enhancing your postnatal offerings beyond the asana practice..”
